SmarterPower is a unique gas-electric converter that is a great power source for remote or unattended commercial security equipment such as PTZ cameras or the SmarterDVR. SmarterPower consists of a clean burning generator that has no moving parts and requires low maintenance. The generator converts natural gas or propane to electricity. This technology is much more efficient and cost effective than a solar solution when remote power for a remote camera is required to operate devices that take 5 to 5,000 watts of power. SmarterPower works in virtually any type of outdoor temperature / weather condition and is known for its long life and high reliability.

How it Works

SmarterPower gas-electric converter turns heat directly energy. As heat moves from the gas burner to the thermoelectric module (thermopile), it causes an electrical current to flow. The hermetically sealed thermopile contains lead-tin-telluride semiconductor elements which provide a chemically stable environment for thermoelectric materials, which ensures a long service life. A gas burner is installed on one side of the thermopile, while the other side is kept cool by aluminum cooling fins or a heat pipe assembly. The hot side maintains a temperature of approximately 540º C and the cold side maintains a temperature of approximately 140º C. The heat flow through the thermopile creates steady DC electricity. SmarterPower operates on natural gas, propane or butane and features a burner system constructed from high-temperature nickel alloys. The unit also has stainless steel cabinets, automatic spark ignition, and automatic safety shutoff.
